Nourishing with Vitality

The Power of Simplicity

In a world where convenience and processing are often the norm, we consciously choose the power of simplicity. Back to what animals truly need. No factory-made mixtures or 'technically enhanced' feed, but food that is still alive, breathes, and contributes to both healthy soil and a healthy animal. Because vitality begins with what you feed.

Grains are part of the diet of herbivores

There seems to be a trend: completely banning grains. Both for humans and animals, grains are increasingly seen as problematic. But why is that? Because in nature, grains, or rather, grass seeds, are a valuable source of concentrated nutrition. Horses grazing on a mature, diverse pasture instinctively go for the seeds first. That's where the energy, the life force of the plant, lies.

Grains naturally contain a rich array of nutrients: fiber, essential fatty acids, proteins, starch, vitamins, and minerals. Exactly as nature intended, in a synergy that we can never fully replicate with synthetic supplements.

Especially when grains are organically grown, without artificial fertilizers or pesticides, and allowed to grow slowly, they are nutritious, vital, and pure. Unprocessed, unbroken down, but in their original state, concentrated feed in the literal sense of the word.

Why unprocessed grains?

Feeding whole grains demands something from the digestive tract. It activates glands, stimulates chewing, and gets the gut flora working. Exactly what an animal needs to digest itself again, instead of becoming dependent on processed feed and supplementation.

Yes, it takes some time. Animals that have been fed easily digestible food for years sometimes need to adjust. In the beginning, you might see some grains in the droppings. But that's part of it. With patience, good roughage, and the right buildup, animals develop a robust digestive system within a few weeks to months that can handle whole grains without problems.

Because that's what we want: for a horse, goat, pig, or chicken to be able to absorb, digest, and utilize independently, without overload, without stress, without artificial means.

Not 'grain-free' but grain freedom

At Natuly (formerly Bio-Ron), we don't believe in eliminating entire food groups. We believe in nutritional freedom. In observing, adapting, and adjusting. And in feeding organic grains when it suits the animal, the phase of recovery, or the season. Then a handful of organic grains can provide precisely that little extra.

We therefore don't see 'grain-free' as a standard, but as a choice. Our grain mixes, mueslis, and pellets contain exclusively whole grains and seeds of organic origin, without residues of agricultural chemicals, without by-products, soy, or molasses. Only pure food with a clear origin.

Our feeds are not designed to manipulate, but to support. To appeal to the animal's self-healing capacity. And that starts with vitality, food that is alive and nourishes the body from within.

Switching to whole grains: how do you do it?

The switch from processed to unprocessed feed requires attention and patience.

  • Start with a mix of muesli and spelt (for example, 1/2 to 1/2)
  • Slowly reduce the proportion of spelt and increase the proportion of whole grains
  • Observe: how does the animal chew, what do you see in the droppings?
  • Optionally add our Brok+ as temporary support (made from crushed, organic grains and minerals).
  • Feed multiple small portions rather than one large one,
  • Allow the animal to eat in peace; stress and digestion do not go together.

For horses with stomach or intestinal problems, raw spelt is a good transition. It contains a lot of fiber, is calming and nourishing. In combination with good quality hay, bokashi, and peat drink, you create a basis for sustainable gut health.

Power in nutrition = life force

What makes our feeds unique is their vitality. They are not designed in a lab, but formulated based on experience, observation, and biological principles. Our feeds are rich in structure, full of vitality, and varied, just as animals would encounter them in nature.

Our mueslis, mashes, grain mixes, and pellets are suitable for all grain and seed eaters: horses, chickens, pigs, goats, cows, birds, rodents. We do not differentiate feed by breed or age. Because nutrition is not an exact science (or marketing stunt), but a dynamic interplay between need, environment, and vitality.

Mix yourself, feed yourself, experience yourself

You can use our feeds individually or combine them to create your own mix. For example:

  • 1/2 muesli + 1/2 spelt for transition from processed to unprocessed,
  • 2/3 spelt + 1/3 muesli for sensitive intestines,
  • Muesli + grain mix for more power (for sports horses or young stock),
  • Pellets + grains for greater energy needs or as support

Of course, this can be perfectly combined with our grain-free assortment. For example, for older horses, a mixture of mash with grass pellets, sainfoin pellets and/or green oat pellets and/or alfalfa pellets is a great combination. Just soak it, and they'll love it!

Variety is key. Every animal, every season, and every situation demands something different. Trust your intuition, observe your animal, and dare to adjust. That is holistic feeding.

At Natuly, we believe in nutrition that is right. Not according to a table, but according to the rhythm of nature.
