The bee
A tiny creature with a big story
You've probably seen them often: bees and bumblebees, busily buzzing from flower to flower. Always busy, always on the go. But have you ever really looked at a bumblebee? Such a fluffy teddy bear with wings that seem far too small to keep it in the air. And yet it flies. A marvel of nature.
We mainly know the honey bee, which can travel enormous distances, flying 40,000 kilometres for just 1 kilo of honey. But did you know there are also many wild bees? They live entirely on their own, often have only a small flight range, and depend on one specific type of flower. Precisely these bees (and bumblebees too) are struggling.
Why bees are indispensable
Bees have existed for over 100 million years. Long before humans, they were already flying around. They are the silent engine behind almost everything that blooms and grows, and thus also behind our food. As much as 80% of all pollination is done by bees. The rest is done by wind or a handful of other animals.
Think about it: without bees, we would have an empty plate. No apples, strawberries, courgettes, or sunflower seeds. A third of all our food depends on pollination. If the bee disappears, much more than just an insect disappears.
So, it's time for action. Let flowers bloom. For the bee and for yourself.
Small actions, big impact
It helps immensely if we let nature take its course a little more. Every flower counts. Do you have a garden? A balcony? A forgotten corner? Sow nectar plants there. Don't have a spot? Become a guerrilla gardener: throw a seed bomb in a bare patch and make the world more beautiful, flower by flower.
Always choose organic seeds. That's better for bees and for the soil. No toxic coatings, no artificial tricks, just honest seeds with real nectar. Because yes, even the quality of nectar can vary.
And choose a sunny spot where there's no mowing or hoeing. Because that's what bees love. And butterflies too, by the way. And ladybugs. And... well, everything that buzzes and flies.
Bees are not the only ones
We often talk about bees, and rightly so. But did you know that all insects play a role in nature? Take the ladybug: it doesn't eat nectar, but aphids. Handy! The plant stays healthy, the beetle has food. Everything works together in a natural balance.
If you take care of one, you immediately help the other. Biodiversity is teamwork.

Where things go wrong
Bees and other insects are struggling. The causes?
- Habitat loss
- Monoculture in agriculture
- Use of pesticides
- Too tidy gardens without flowers or nesting sites
Solitary bees are the most vulnerable. They do everything themselves: build nests, forage for food, lay eggs. Some are completely dependent on one specific flower species. Other bees collect pollen in 'baskets' on their legs or on their abdominal hairs. Even the way they store nectar is unique to each species.
And yet... with a few simple adjustments, we can make their world flourish again.
What can you do?
Sow flowers and herbs.
In our webshop, you'll find, for example, the Happy Bees Mix: a colourful blend of organic flowers, herbs, and natural nitrogen fixers. Good for bees, beautiful to look at, and a delight for your nose. Suitable for gardens, yards, or fields.
Hang up a bee hotel.
Not all bees nest in the ground. Some seek a spot in hollow stems or wooden tunnels. No space to sow flowers? Then a bee hotel is the perfect solution. You can buy one or make your own with reed stems or drilled wood. Hang it in a sunny spot and the bees will come naturally.
Don't forget the other helpers.
You can also help ladybugs, butterflies, and other insects with flowers, herbs, and natural shelters.
Get inspired.
In our books section, you'll find handy guides for identifying wild plants with their culinary and natural applications.
Happy bee, happy world
Whether you sow one flowerpot or a whole hectare:
Every little bit helps. Everything counts.
And the more people sow, the faster nature recovers. During the transition period from Bio-Ron to Natuly, we distributed bee seeds with all orders. In total, we created 60 km of bee-friendly strips!
Together, we can turn every piece of land into a piece of biodiversity!
