Soil improvers

The natural basis for healthy and fertile soil

Healthy soil is the foundation for everything that grows and thrives, from herb-rich meadows to nutritious crops in the vegetable garden and strong, vital grass in the lawn. That's why natural soil management is one of the most important pillars within the philosophy of Natuly (formerly Bio-Ron). After all, everything starts with the soil.

With the right soil improvers, you can strengthen the soil's self-healing capacity, build humus, and bring soil life back or more to life. Not a quick, forced approach, but a sustainable approach that contributes to a fertile future for people, animals, and the earth.

What are natural soil improvers and what do they do?

Soil improvers are natural substances that improve the structure, fertility, and biological balance of the soil. These include:

  • Rock flours (such as Eifel lava flour or grit, Actimin, and Vulkamin): are rich in trace elements, stimulate soil life, and support nutrient uptake.
  • Clay minerals: improve water retention, essential for dry or sandy soils.
  • Seashell lime: a mild, slow-acting lime source that counteracts acidification without disturbing soil life.

These products are also called 'remedial fertilization': you don't use them every year, but in cycles of 3 to 5 years to replenish structural deficiencies and restore the natural balance. Once this balance is restored and regenerative practices are applied, these soil improvers will be needed less and less frequently.

Which soil improver suits your soil?

Every soil type and situation requires a tailored approach. However, there are some rules of thumb:

  • For dry sandy soil: start with clay minerals to retain water better.
  • After intensive use or old production pastures/lands: start by supplementing trace elements with rock flour, for example Eifel lava or Vulkamin.
  • For acidic soil (low pH): seashell lime balances the acidity without disturbing soil life.
  • For compost improvement: sprinkle rock flour, such as lava flour, on the compost heap for richer, more stable compost.

All Natuly products are 100% natural and suitable for organic farming and animal-friendly pasture management. They fit perfectly within a circular, regenerative system where the soil gets stronger year after year.

How do you use soil improvers in practice?

Dosage:

  • Clay minerals: 1000 kg/ha once, possibly repeat after a year. For smaller areas, this amounts to 1 kg per 10m².
  • Seashell lime: 1000 kg/ha once, then 300 kg every 3 to 5 years. For smaller areas, this amounts to 1 kg per 10m². Afterwards, 300 grams per 10m².
  • Rock flour: 1000 kg/ha once, alternating Eifel lava, Actimin, Vulkamin. For smaller areas, this also amounts to 1 kg per 10m².

Application: preferably in spring or autumn, under favorable weather conditions (not in extreme drought or wetness).

Combination with compost: perfectly possible. Rock flours improve the composting process and make nutrients more available.

Everything can be applied to the soil simultaneously, even on the same day. There is no specific order, except that you finish with compost.

Sustainable soil management with visible results

Regular use of natural soil improvers leads to:

  • Improved structure and aeration
  • Greater water buffering
  • Increase in soil life and humus build-up
  • Better nutrient uptake
  • More biodiversity and more vital plants

And you see that reflected in everything that grows on your soil: stronger grass, healthier herbs, more robust crops, and a balanced food source for people and animals.

"A soil that lives, delivers. And that makes everyone happy: people, animals, and the planet."
